As Douglas had a son, it is implied he had a wife or girlfriend.Where his wife/girlfriend went is not explained, but we can assumeshe has either left him or is dead, since Douglas clearly mentions that if he died, no one would cry for him. Douglas' son was killed trying to rob a bank;Douglas was poor and penniless, so his son went to the bank for money.From there, we can assume Douglas became a
private investigator to be the opposite of his son, and to finally have a real money-making career.Douglas is also briefly mentioned in the recently released "Silent Hill: Homecoming". It is stated in a memo that he was in fact the one responsible for the crippled state The Order has been in. Following the events of Silent Hill 3, Douglas apparently exposed them and their activities to the public.
Occurrences with Heather
hopping Mall
Douglas walks to Heather after Heather finishes her phone conversationwith her father. Douglas asks for some of Heather's time, and Heatherclearly isn't interested. Douglas says it's about Heather's birth, butthat isn't good enough to interest her. Douglas follows Heather but canonly go so far as Heather enters the bathroom.
hopping Mall (After Splitworm)
Douglas finds Heather after she kills the Splitworm. Heather accusesDouglas of being in on it with Claudia, but Douglas is just as shockedas she is. Douglas wonders what the monster was, and Heather decides tohead home using the subway.
Harry's Apartment
After praying for Harry, Douglas calms Heather down and they lay him inbed. Douglas says he feels partially responsible and offers to takeHeather to Silent Hill. He heads to get his car ready.
Outside Apartment
Douglas greets Heather, saying Vincent gave him a map and told him togo look for Leonard upon arriving in Silent Hill. Douglas gives Heatherthe map and they get in the car.
Car Ride
Douglas and Heather discuss the nasty rumors of Silent Hill, andHeather/Alessa's past. Heather also recaps the events of the firstSilent Hill. He also mentions a missing persons case, possibly James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2.
Jack's Inn
Douglas and Heather discuss being afraid to be alone. Douglasadmits to being afraid, and then heads for Leonard's house.
Amusement Park (First Instance)
Douglas speaks with Claudia and is angry she deceived him. Claudia onceagain explains her whole plot, and Douglas, like everyone else,disagrees and mocks her. Douglas points his gun at Claudia, butwhatever happens after causes one of Douglas' legs to break. Manybelieve that supernatural powers possessed by Claudia came into play here.
Amusement Park (Second Instance)
Douglas' leg is broken, and Heather arrives. Douglas tells Heather shereminds him of his son, and also tells Heather, as she leaves toconfront Claudia, that if Douglas killed her instead, it'd all be over. Heather doesn'tfeel offended, and continues on her way.
Amusement Park (Third Instance)
In the 'normal' ending, after Heather kills Claudia, she pretends to be possessed and startlesDouglas before nearly stabbing him. Douglas says Heather had bad taste,but Heather interrupts, telling Douglas to call her Cheryl.
In the 'possessed' ending, Douglas gets killed by Heather.
Other Appearances
Douglas is mentioned in one of The Order's books in "Silent Hill Homecoming", which states that Douglas successfully exposed the Silent Hill cult to the authorities after the events of "Silent Hill 3".
