Tanya Wilson (born c.
1951 ) is a beauty queen fromHonolulu, Hawaii who held the titleMiss USA 1972.Wilson first won the
Miss Hawaii USA title, then represented her state in theMiss USA pageant, held inDorado ,Puerto Rico in May 1973. This was the first time in the twenty-year history of the pageant that it was held outside the continental United States, and the only time that it has been held in aUnited States territory . In the nationally televised pageant, Wilson won the pageant crown, and was crowned byMichele McDonald of Pennsylvania. She was the second of four women from Hawaii to win the Miss USA title.Wilson represented the
United States in theMiss Universe pageant broadcast from the same city two months after winning her national title. As with the Miss USA pageant, this was the first time that Miss Universe had been held outside the United States. Wilson placed in the semi-finals in the pageant, which was won byKerry Anne Wells ofAustralia .Wilson later moved to the
