Johnny Canales

Johnny Canales is a former Tejano musician, and was host of the popular show titled "The Johnny Canales Show" which showcased up-and-coming bands from Mexico and the United States, including Selena, La Mafia, Mazz, Intocable, La Sombra, Fama, Jaime y Los Chamacos, and Jennifer Peña. It aired on Televisa in Mexico and Univision in the United States from the mid-1980s until 1996. In 1997 he made the transition to the Telemundo Network. The show only lasted 3 seasons on Telemundo. In 2002 Johnny Canales reached an agreement to bring the show back to its original home, the Televisa Network, and to start touring again doing shows in the Southwest part of The United States and Mexico. In 2005 the show was taken off the air, leading to an outcry by the Hispanic community for the loss of the show.Fact|date=July 2007

Today, the show does air on at least one television station, KAZH in Houston.
