Raindrops

Raindrops

"Raindrops" is a dance music song released in 2006, the first international hit by the relatively new production team Stunt. Produced in the United Kingdom by Dave Valler,Gary Johnson, its synthesizer-based rhythm and powerful vocals by Molly Smithen-Dowes have made it a top 3 hit dance single in the U.S., reaching #18 on the World Dance/Trance Top 30 Singles charts in April 2006. As remixing is popular in dance music communities, at least six different mixes have been released. Co-witer and producer Dave Valler spotted Molly on another project and was blown away by her talent. In a matter of days Molly was in a studio recording the vocals and Raindrops was created!" Molly Smithen-Downes, a student at Guildford’s Academy of Contemporary Music, recorded thea [sic] song called "Raindrops" which had already received airtime on commercial radio and BBC 1 in November, two months before going on general release. In co-operation with a former student, Dave Valler, she also wrote the lyrics and melody to a backing track owned by Jiant Productions; the song was to be released through Ministry of Sound, with whom Molly and Dave signed a publishing deal which, it was hoped, might lead to a career of stardom. A large portion of the song's success is attributed to the synth-based sample of Sash!'s UK hit "Encore Une Fois", although it is modernised and developed.
