Wynnum ,Queensland onJuly 19 ,1987 .Other assaults by Clark were in the late 70's, where he indecently assaulted a young woman around the same area of the Phillips murder. He was captured a few days after and sentenced to only a few months in prison. While a fugitive for the murder of Janet Philips, he was also jailed for car theft and traffic offences in
1987 and was jailed for ten years for attacking another three young females in rural Victoria in1996 .Lloyd's case attracted Australia-wide attention, as on the morning of Philips Investigation, the sperm indicating she had been raped was stored. It subsequently matched Fletcher's
DNA when he was arrested on suspicion of the murder in 1997. He was extradited to Queensland to stand trial.Ken Cox, a forensic scientist from Queensland's John Tonge Institute, gave evidence for the Crown that the probability of finding someone in the community with the exact DNA would be about one in 6.4 billion. Clark was subsequently convicted and sentenced to indefinite imprisonment, plus the nine years left on his Victorian jail sentence when he was extradited, meaning he will most likely die in jail. The Queensland criminal justice system embraced
DNA profiling after his 1998 conviction.External links
