- Aharon Remez
Aluf Aharon Remez (May 8 ,1919 –April 3 ,1994 ) was anIsrael i politician and the second commander of theIsraeli Air Force . Remez was born in British Mandated Palestine inTel Aviv . His military career began when he entered theHaganah in 1936, but just three years later he was sponsored by theJewish Agency to receive flying lessons inNew Jersey and join theRoyal Air Force . At the end of 1947Sherut Avir , the air wing of the Haganah, was formed. Remez served as a founding member, and then went on to serve in the newly created Israeli Air Force in 1948. After his military retirement, Remez was appointed Israeli ambassador to Britain in the 1960s.His father,
David Remez , was Israel's first Minister of Transportation.References
