Baron Joicey, of Chester-le-Street in the County of Durham, is a title in the
Peerage of the United Kingdom . It was created in 1906 for the coal mining magnate and former LiberalMember of Parliament for Chester-le-Street, James Joicey. He had already been created a Baronet, of Chester-le-Street in the County of Durham, in theBaronetage of the United Kingdom in 1893. As of 2007 the titles are held by his great-grandson, the fifth Baron, who succeeded his father in 1993.The family seat is Etal Manor on the

He married Lady Joan Katherine Lambton (21 September 1893 – 1967), youngest daughter ofFrederick Lambton, 4th Earl of Durham . In theBoer War andGreat War of 1914-18 he served in the 14th Hussars and 1st Suffolk Regiment latterley with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He wasHigh Sheriff of Northumberland 1933.
