Michael Patrick has evolved from a theatrically trained actor to talent manager and finally to
feature film producer with over a decade of experience in bothNew York City and Toronto. While still attending school inManhattan , Mr.Patrick was fortunate to be invited to join the newly formed development team at theWB Television Network where he co-created & co-starred inHuckleberry Inn . Upon his return to Toronto, Mr. Patrick formed,Universal Management , a principal level talent management company representing working professionals in the Toronto and LA film communities. Universal Management became widely respected as one of the elite boutique agencies in Toronto. In the summer of2001 , Universal Management was acquired byStone Gate Entertainment Inc. Mr. Patrick was promptly appointed to CFO of the holding company. Stone Gate Entertainment Inc. was a uniquecasting company ,casting facility operator andtalent management corporation . Properties of Stone Gate Entertainment Inc. includedNow Casting , a fully functional casting facility located in downtown Toronto. As acting casting director on behalf of the company, Mr. Patrick was responsible for the casting of hundreds of commercials, feature films and music videos. Stone Gate Entertainment Inc. owned a background representation company,Thunderbolt & Aberdeen and a feature film development firm,The Development House , that later evolved into Mr. Patrick’s wholly owned development corporation, Michael Patrick Entertainment Inc. Amanda-Marie Saks – Production Supervisor
Amanda-Marie Saks has over ten years experience in the film & television industry. Mrs. Saks has worked in many facets of the industry crossing into multiple genres and formats. With a strong background in television distribution and several years of experience in production accounting and financing. Mrs. Saks has begun to specialize in tax credit applications and production supervision. Over her career, Mrs. Saks has successfully produced 75 short format productions with budgets ranging from $20,000 to $750,000, including “Top Ten” music videos on both MTV and Much Music and many commercials. As a producer and/or production manager, Mrs. Saks, has been involved in the production of over 20 dramatic feature films, 10 documentary films and numerous documentary and informational television series, including acclaimed cooking series’ What’s for Dinner (1995) and Ken Kostick and Company (2000). Mrs. Saks has worked with award winning documentary director Peter Raymont on such shows as The Struggle For Democracy – Guatemala (1998) and Border Crossings (2001). In recent years, Mrs. Saks has primarily worked both on developing and producing her own documentaries and working with other independent filmmakers producing sports documentaries for television distribution, covering NASCAR, MotoGP, MotoCross, Tennis and Boxing. With opportunities to work on breakthrough documentary biographies for NFL Films and Leafs TV, this specialization in sports documentaries was recognized by ESPN. Mrs. Saks, was offered a position programming and producing for the sports documentary arm of the network. Alongside this production history, Mrs. Saks has actively worked in acquisitions and distributions for both theatrical and foreign television markets and worked with several festivals including the Savannah Film Festival and SLAMDance, in both a marketing and programming capacity. Mrs. Saks is a graduate of Lakehead University and studied business management at Ryerson University.
Peter Benison – Director of Photography
Peter Benison has 35 years of experience as a director of photography. Mr. Benison has worked on projects in more than 15 countries spanning the globe. His particular talent can be seen in some of Hollywood’s biggest feature films including Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Chicago (2002), John Travolta’ Battlefield Earth (2000) and TV’s Home Alone 4 (2002). Mr. Benison has worked on numerous Oscar, Emmy, Gemini and Leo award nominated productions including, Thunder Point (1998), Bullet to Beijing (1995) and TV’s Street Legal (1987). The Canadian Society of Cinematographers has honoured Mr. Benison with The Best Cinematography award in Theatrical Feature for Whispers (1989) and in TV Serials for the ground breaking kids adventure series Caption Power: Against the New Order (1989). Mr. Benison’s current feature, Looking For Angelina (2005) played to sold out Premiere showings at the Montreal World Film Festival and won the Best Feature Award at the Quintus Festival, the feature has been invited to show at festivals in India and Italy. Mr. Benison recently wrapped shooting the opening sequence and visual effects on the blockbuster thriller/horror, Silent Hill (2006), based on the video game of the same name. Mr. Benison is a graduate of McGill University.
Maninder Chana – Writer/Associate Producer – Sikhs On Ice
For the last few years, Maninder was the driving force behind Mixed Nuts. The comedy troupe garnered accolades for its cutting edge humor. Mr. Chana was nominated for a 2002 mybindi Best Actor Award and the troupe was also nominated for Best Stage Production. The success led him to New York where he shot a pilot, Plywood TV. As well as acting in a number of commercials and films, Mr. Chana has also written and directed several shorts including, Tourist Trap, Sammy’s Dilemma, Mohandas & Bette: A Love Story and the up-coming The Drive-by Ventriloquist. Recently, he wrapped on a 12-episode, 6-hour sci-fi epic for Virtually American. Mr. Chana is both writer and director on the project. The radio series, Sectarian Wave will be available in record stores in early 2006 and is now being turned into a comic book series by Bright Anvil Comics. Mr. Chana is an award-winning journalist as well as writer, a collection of his short comedic stories, Gunga Din Lite and Other Delights (of Lust & Comedy) will be published and available next year. Mr. Chana is currently a senior producer at CTV News, where he has enjoyed the pace of the daily newsroom grind. Mr. Chana has a BA from the University of Windsor and is a graduate of the Humber College School of Journalism.
Bob Thompson – Associate Producer - Sikhs On Ice
At Red Fort Films, Mr. Thompson serves as co-producer on all the productions and has lent his voice talents to the role of narrator in Sammy’s Dilemma and Mohandas and Bette: A Love Story. Mr. Thompson recently produced The Drive-By Ventriloquist. Originally from British Columbia, Mr. Thompson was a research and reporting assistant at BCTV in Vancouver for several years, when he was asked to join the team in Toronto working for CTV Network, to start up the new CTV News One (CTV Newsnet) in 1997. This prestigious honour was a unique challenge. CTV News One became the first all-digital news channel in the world. Online, Mr. Thompson helped create the Gemini-award winning CTVNEWS.com (CTV.ca). The site was also recognized with an award from New York’s prestigious Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and the Online News Association. After graduating from the University of British Columbia, Mr. Thompson wanted to get more experience writing for television and enrolled in the British Columbia Institute of Technology in the Broadcast Journalism program. Mr. Thompson won a national RTNDA Award for his student documentary.
