(1987)"Whenever You're Ready" is the name of a
1987 hit single by British pop groupFive Star , the first release from their third album, "Between the Lines".Both the album and single were released at the same time, with "Between the Lines" peaking at
UK #7 and selling 350,000 copies, and "Whenever Your Ready" reaching #11. It was noted by critics that a formula for a 'hit' was emerging from the Five Star camp with this song, which, as a lead single from a new album, did not create too much of a buzz, despite the catchy melody. The video shows the band dancing in a white studio, with the youngest member, Delroy, dancing on top of a high podium. For reasons unknown, fish can be seen swimming around before being superimposed over the band's faces.
"Whenever You're Ready" would become the group's last Top 15 chart hit.
In an interview to promote the song, Denise revealed that it was her idea to loop the second chorus of the song, and insert a chorus breaker in the 'repeat to fade' section at the end (which has the same lyrics as the main chorus sung in different melody), although she did not receive a credit for arranging the song on the album sleevenotes.
