Allsop was born in the
United Kingdom , and shortly after birth moved to theUnited States , as hersurgeon father moved around a lot. At a young age, her family settled inMont Albert ,Melbourne inAustralia . Allsop showed an interest in acting from a young age, and after finishing school, she studied at the Victorian College of the Arts.Whilst studying, Allsop guest starred on
television series such as "Neighbours " (1995) and "Halifax f.p. " (1998). After graduating in 1998, Allsop returned to "Neighbours" as a different character for several months.In 1996, Allsop had auditioned for the role of
Dash McKinley on "Blue Heelers " but had been unsuccessful, losing out on the role toTasma Walton . She did, however, obtain a guest role in a 1997 episode. After graduating, she auditioned for the show again and won the lead role ofJoanna "Jo" Parrish . Allsop played the role from 1999 until 2004 when her character was killed as part of a major revamp of the show.In 2005, Allsop guest starred on "Last Man Standing", and in four episodes of "MDA".
In 2007, Allsop had portrayed TV actress and comedian

Her de facto partner is David Serafin. In May 2006, they had a baby boy, Indiana Zac Serafin.
