Robert Laniewski or Robert Łaniewski (born
19 January 1979 ) is aSouth African classicalpianist .He grew up in
Johannesburg ,South Africa where his father was an electrical engineer. He began piano lessons at the age of seven with his mother, a musician.He matriculated in 1996. He resumed his music studies in parallel with his career in
software development. In 2000, he was invited to Bad Camberg,Germany , to study withAndrei Gavrilov , from whom he acquired a unique understanding of the music ofJ.S. Bach . Subsequently, he studied with Lorraine Joubert (a graduate of theLeipzig Conservatoire), Maria Bajalica,Elena Kuschnerova ,Lovro Pogorelich andNicolai Lomov . He studied inGermany ,South Africa ,Croatia and theUnited States .Radio broadcasts of his recordings took place in
South Africa . He gave his South African debut recital on5 May ,2003 at the Gencor Gallery, inJohannesburg , with a live recording.He gave his
United States debut recital at theLithuania n Children's Relief event inBrockton ,Massachusetts on6 May ,2006 .He has recorded works by
Thomas Arne , J.S. Bach, Chopin, Clementi,Fibich , Rachmaninov,Scarlatti and Scriabin.In January 2004, he compiled an album with various South African musicians celebrating 10 years of
