Zako Heskija

Zako Heskija, "Зако Хеския", also:"Zako Heskia" or "Sako Cheskija" (September 21, 1922 in Istanbul - June 3, 2006) was a notable Bulgarian film director and writer.

Heskia became in 1966 international audience for "Gorechto Pladne" (Torrid Noon), the first Bulgarian contribution to the Cannes Film Festival and a nomination for the Palme d'Or. In 1981 he won the spezial prize at the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) for "Yo Ho Ho".

Zako Heskia works together with the former state Boyana Film Studio in Sofia.
