Klin ( _ru. Клин) is a town in
Moscow Oblast ,Russia , located km to mi|85 northwest ofMoscow . The M10 highway connectingMoscow to St. Petersburg and theMoscow-Saint Petersburg Railway run through the town. Klin has been known since 1317. In 1482, it was incorporated into
Muscovy with the rest of the Grand Princedom ofTver . Among several churches, the most noteworthy are the 16th century church of the Dormitioncloister and thebaroque Resurrection cathedral (1712). The town is best known as the residence ofPyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky , whose house is open to visitors as a museum. It was here that the composer created his famous ballets "TheSleeping Beauty " and "The Nutcracker ". Klin was taken by the Germans briefly during thebattle of Moscow in 1941. There is a largebeer factory, which produces "Klinskoye" beer. A local soccer team plays in Moscow Oblast league and is called "Khimik".References
