Hemşince

In a small number of villages in the Artvin Province of Turkey a language, in addition to Turkish, is spoken, to which its speakers, the Hopa Hemşinli, refer to as “Hemşince” in Turkish or “Homshetsma” in the mentioned language. [Blaesing in "The Hemshin" 2007 edited by Simonian] This language contains many Turkish and Laz lexical items and is treated as a dialect of western Armenian.Hemşince and Armenian are mutually not intelligible.
