Vinod Kinariwala

Vinod Kinariwala was a student of Gujarat College located in the city of Ahmedabad in western India. He was shot dead by a British officer while protesting in front of the college for trying to hoist the Indian flag on the first day of the Quit India Movement led by Mahatma Gandhi. A statue commemorating his death was installed at Gujarat College, and every year 2-3 of his family members visit it on August 9, the day the "Quit India" call was given by Gandhiji.Vinod Kinariwala was only 18 years of age at the time of this incident. When the British officer, standing just a few feet from him, asked him to put down the flag, he replied defiantly that he was not going to do anything of the sort. The officer shot him at point-blank range. Vinod Kinariwala is related to Bhanuprasad Kinariwala. Amit Kinariwala the son of Bhanuprasad Kinariwala.
