St. Alban's College is a private boarding school/Day School for boys situated in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. It was founded in 1963 by Anton Murray.

About

St. Alban's College is a young, vibrant Anglican boys' school. It came into existence on 1 February 1963 with a total strength of 37 boys and 3 masters. With now 510 boys and 43 teachers, plus an array of support staff.

From its very inception it has been a school that loves a challenge. The founder-Headmaster, Anton Murray, was a South African cricketer who sought to maintain the best traditions of liberal education. So an emphasis on well-rounded development prevails, and games such as cricket, rugby and hockey have always figured prominently in our history.

However, the youth of the school has fortunately enabled us to escape the shackles of tradition and St Alban's has made a name for itself as an innovator, rather than as a preserver. St Alban's has pioneered the way in many important areas: opening its doors to boys of colour before it was legal to do so, providing educational upliftment programmes for disadvantaged members of the community, embracing the benefits of technology and its application in education, revising the curriculum, exploring innovative teaching methodologies. It is an exciting school.

Mr Murray devoted twenty years of his life to the school. Mr Paul Marsh was headmaster during a transitional phase lasting for four years. Mr Ronnie Todd introduced many radical changes during his ten years as headmaster. The fourth headmaster was Mr Grant Nupen, who was one of those 37 pioneering Foundation Scholars in 1963 and went on to become the first Head Boy – a distinction he held for three years!

The year 2003 saw the school celebrate its 40th birthday: St Alban's College has survived perilous infancy and turbulent adolescence and is now embarked on confident manhood, under the direction of Mr Tom Hamilton.

Vision

St Alban's College is a learning community of boys, staff and parents. We are forward looking, committed to quality and service, and we pursue innovative strategies and encourage personal responsibility in the interest of all-round development of the boy as he journeys towards manhood.
