The founders are Harold Winling, Blaise D'Antoni, andF. Edward Hebert , and the charter members are Ewell A. Smith, Albert D. Smith, Louis J. D'Antoni, Joseph R. Domengeaux, Cecil Gibson, Gordon Hebert, Harold Winling, and Leo B. Schwegmann.Sigma Alpha Kappa experienced an expansion in 1945, when the Theta Alpha Chapter at
Spring Hill College became affiliated with the fraternity. One of the social fraternities throughout the years at Loyola,Fact|date=April 2007 it maintained a healthy membership until it left campus in 1975. However, with strong support from alumni, it became rechartered again in 2003.Sigma Alpha Kappa stresses inclusion rather than exclusion, and places the highest importance on academics, athletics, and social graces. Sigma Alpha Kappa also enforces a strict anti-hazing policy. Its colors are royal purple, black, and white, and its flower is the white carnation.
Brothers of SAK are proud of their distinction as one of the oldest fraternities at Loyola. Many alumni have pursued successful careers in various fields. Some of the gifts that the fraternity has given to the university include a stained glass window in Marquette Hall, exercise equipment for the former Loyola field house, and the famous Loyola letters that sit on the front of the campus on St. Charles Ave.
AK Firsts
*SAK owned Loyola's first fraternity house. Purchased in 1924, it was sold in 1927.
*First social fraternity at Loyola to have a faculty moderator.
*Participated in both the first recorded inter-fraternal (against
Alpha Delta Gamma ) and intra- fraternal (old members vs. new members) games at Loyola. Organized the inter-fraternal sports league in 1937.*A SAK alumnus gave first alumni endowment to the university in 1939.

The beta chapter of Sigma Alpha Kappa, was established in 1970 at
Emory and Henry College . While similarities such as the fraternity colors (purple) and the diamond-shaped badge exist, no firm relationship between the groups has been established.Notable Alumni
