Helen Cresswell (
11 July 1934 ,Nottingham -26 September 2005 ,Eakring ,Nottinghamshire ) was an Englishauthor of over 120 books for children including "A Gift from Winklesea ", the "Lizzie Dripping " series, and "The Bagthorpe Saga ". She also adapted numerous stories fortelevision , including "Moondial" (1988), "Five Children and It " (1991) and "The Demon Headmaster " (1996-1998). She was educated atNottingham High School for Girls , and held a degree fromKing's College London .In 2005 Cresswell died at her home in
Eakring ,Nottinghamshire , aged 71 fromovarian cancer .Bibliography
