He joinedMushroomhead in 2004 from North Carolina based band, 3 Quarters Dead. He joined followingJason Popson 's departure from the band.Waylon's singing abilities are clearly indicated by his track record. Soon after the final 3 Quarters Dead album entitled "Blueprint of a Strange Mind", Waylon Reavis was beginning a prominent career with his band. 3 Quarters Dead toured with Mushroomhead in the spring of 2004, where his band gained minor recognition by fans as well as from Mushroomhead itself.
Around August through September of '04, one half of Mushroomhead's singing duo (J-Mann) quit the band due to personal, non-conflicting reasons. In need of a replacement singer, Mushroomhead found Waylon's vocal talents to be on par with the recently quit singer and recruited him right away. The previous singer, J-Mann, suggested Waylon to become the replacement for the band.Fact|date=July 2007 Waylon possessed the hard, edgy vocal skill of J-Mann, all the while adding a new, harmonized vocal set with the other singer in the band, Jeffery Nothing.
3 Quarters Dead were opening for Mushroomhead for 13 shows in and around North Carolina. 3 Quarters Dead were looking for a place to record their demo and chose Mushroomhead's studio to do so. During the recording of the demo, JMann - who at the time was still working with Mushroomhead - mentioned how much Waylon sounded like him. Waylon was asked to join Mushroomhead on his birthday and
Savior Sorrow , the first album to feature Waylon, was also released on his birthday.Links
