Johannes Paulus Stricker (
18 October 1816 ,The Hague -27 August 1886 ,Nieuwer-Amstel ) was a theologian and biblical scholar. He attended theUniversity of Leiden where he worked withJ. F. van Oordt , a key figure in the newGroningen theology . He sat his ordination examination in May 1841, and was appointed to a ministerial post in October of that year. In December of that year, he married Willemina Carbentus, an older sister ofVincent van Gogh 's mother. As an uncle he tutored the young Vincent in theology and biblical criticism in 1877-78.Works
