Georg Nees (born 1926 in
Nürnberg ,Germany ) is a professor at theUniversity of Erlangen ,Germany Nees studied
mathematics ,physics andphilosophy atErlangen and Stuttgart and in 1969 he received aPh.D. in "Generative Computer Graphics" underMax Bense , the founder ofInformation Aesthetics . In 1977 he became honorary professor in "Angewandte Informatik" at the University of Erlangen and writer atSEMIOSIS , an international paper forsemiotics andaesthetics .Since 1964 Nees has been working with
computer graphics , sculptures and film – both producing and theorizing about it. In 1965 Nees along with two other pioneers within the field of early computer art,Frieder Nake andA. Michael Noll , organised exhibitions of computer graphics calling it ”Computer Art ”.Nees has participated in various Biennales and art festivals. The Biennale film/art festival in
Venice in 1969 and 1970; the Biennale in Nürnberg in 1969 and 1971; "Prinzip Zufall " inLudwigshafen in 1992; and "Digital Konkret 1 " inBonn 1995In 1995 Nees published the his book ”Formel, Farbe, Form. Computerästhetik für Medien und Design”.
