Noel Debroy Jones, CB, is a former
Bishop of Sodor and Man .He was born in 1932 in
Wales and educated at theUniversity of Wales . He became the Vicar ofKano inNigeria from 1960 to 1962. He then joined theRoyal Navy as a Chaplain and was deployed toBrunei andBorneo . He is also complete a Commando course prior to service inAden with 42 Commando in 1967. He also served inSaudi Arabia and as Staff Chaplain at the Ministry of Defence before in 1984 becomingChaplain of the Fleet andArchdeacon for theRoyal Navy , as well being made a Companion of theOrder of the Bath . In 1989 he left the Navy and was appointedBishop of Sodor and Man . During his time as Lord Bishop he had an ex officio seat in the Legislative Council and was a member of the Department of Education and the War Pensions Committee as well as being a trustee ofKing William's College . In 2003 he stood down as Lord Bishop.
