Graveyard Shift (rapper)

Graveyard Shift (rapper)

Graveyard Shift was a known underground rap duo from Cleveland, Ohio who were signed to Mo Thugs Records & Relativity in 1995.

The group started off with a bad start, having member Lil' Boo (mentioned in the song Tha Crossroads by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony) being gunned down. The members "Sin", "Tombstone", and "Gates" who were all close friends with Bone Thugs N Harmony, before Bone got their fame, were signed to Mo Thug records, performing a classic song (one of the best on the Mo Thug I album) "Killing Fields", as well as a song featuring Bone Thug member Flesh-N-Bone called "Rumors and Wars".

The group was scheduled to release "Still Waters", an album with Sin, Gates, and Tombstone on it, the album had many problems, and was repeatedly delayed until an announcement was made it wasn't going to get a release. However, "Still Waters" was later released as an internet only album, featuring Layzie Bone and Krayzie Bone. The album was not a download, as many people claim, but an actual official limited release by GYS producer Romeo Antonio. It was available for mail-order purchase for one month before being pulled. Fans who purchased the album praised it for its unique, almost "gothic" sound, cold, graphic lyrics, and an excellent production and vibe. Every song on the album was unique and a great listen, with biblical metaphors in the tracks, Tombstones dark voice, Gates lyrics, and Sin's creepy voice and often graphic suicidal lyrics.

Unfortunately, what could have been a great group in hip-hop came to an end when Tombstone was killed, gunned down (the unofficial graveyard shift myspace said he was gunned down in his front lawn, though this is not official). Gates, struck by the tragedy of having two members of Grave Yard Shift gunned down, quit hip-hop.

Sin remained with Mo' Thug's until leaving in 2001, joining former Mo' Thugs member, Souljah Boy's newly formed record label. He is expected to release a mixtape early 2007.
