- Line A (Prague Metro)
Line A ( _cz. Linka A) is a line of the
Prague Metro , serving theCzech Republic capital. Chronologically the second line in the system, it was first opened in1978 and has expanded mostly during the 1980s. Presently it has 13 stations and convert|11.0|km of track.History
Construction of first segment started in
1973 , part of this segment was also tunnel connecting this line with Line C between stationsMuzeum andNáměstí Míru . After completion second segment was started work on the link to the new metro depotDepo Hostivař . Tunnel (3.4 km long) was completed in1985 , second tube in1987 with the new stationStrašnická on that link. Later was added stationSkalka , again on that link and stationDepo Hostivař , straight in hall of Depot Hostivař (in former wash-stand).Future
Extensions on both ends are under consideration. On the west extension from station
Dejvická to Petřiny, Motol and possibly later to Zličín (terminus of Line B) or toRuzyně International Airport . On the east branch from stationStrašnická to the SE towards Hostivař railway station.
