He is considered by many as one of the best rollerbladers ever.

Early career

Chris Farmer grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He explains his earlier days and how he came to limelight of the rollerblading scene:

I really never thought I’d get anywherein rollerblading. Being a random kid fromMinnesota, I just skated A LOT and didn'tworry about much else. I had my friendsand my skates, that's it.

Throughout my school career, I didn'treally hang out with anyone, and nevercared to make any friends (that didn't skate). It’s not that I felt like the weird/loner kid, I was justcontent with being myself and doing my own thing.Luckily, the friends I did have were really good atrollerblading, [so] every session was definitely a learning experience.

So, with a lot of good skating happening there would always be a camera out. During a time when my friend Zach lived at my house, he decided to make a section of me with footage spanning the last two years. Zach and a few of my other friends went to the first Detroit IMYTA and apparently showed it off to a few people. It caught the eye of James Reetzke and he asked Zach if [he] could put it on his site, intelligentproductions.com.

Next thing I know, I’m the talk on all these message boards and James ends up coming to MN to film a section for the up and coming first Life Plus issue. With the buzz of that section still lingering, I get a random ass IM from Rob G [uerrero] (who at this point I had never met before) saying that he watches my section everyday before he skates and that he wants to get me a pair of RB's and some 50/50 frames. Weird huh?

Then comes my attempt at turning ASA pro in Dallas, which obviously didn't turn out so well. But I did end up getting hooked up with SixWonSix and met up with the FID tour and filmed for the next VG. DAP ends up coming to MN to film the French bro's for their section, but they both end up getting hurt the first few days of filming. So about a month later, I get an IM from Dave saying that he wanted to give me a part in VG19 cause I had apparently accumulated a lot of tricks with him in TX/MN.

[I asked myself] "Haha, is this really happening?" Apparently, the day he finished my section, he set up a meeting with Shane Coburn and D [ustin] L [atimer [ to show them. Later that night, he tells me to call him and he says, "Guess what? You’re going to skate for Mindgame!" I really wish someone were there to take a picture of my face when I heard those words. I honestly couldn't believe it! But it wasn't official until I talked to Shane about a week later. James Reetzke just so happened to be in MN [ the same week] we were filming the snow section for Life Plus 2.

About a week later, I ended up going to California for the first time and stayed with Haffey, and pretty much said hello to the whole rollerblading industry. Being there a week, I filmed a part for Brandon Negrete's first video called "US" and then [went] back home to good old Minnesota.

2 weeks later, VG 19 comes out..........”

2003 to Present

After his phenomenal section in Videogroove video magazine Issue 19, Farmer would film a handful of impressive sections. In addition to his section in VG 19, other notable sections of his earlier career include his section in KFC 3: Straight Jackit, a double section in Mindgame's WORDS, and a section in Denial's Underestimated. After the release of the very impressive KFC 3: Straight Jackit, Farmer left the limelight of the rollerblading industry. It was around this time that Farmer's dressing style would change. This change caused quite a stir among online message boards and other forms of communication between rollerbladers. Although asked about his clothing style numerous times, Farmer shies away from the subject as he does not find it important and does not understand the reason for the discontent. Nonetheless Farmer has continued to be featured in major rollerblading magazines and videos.

Shortly after his Change in his "image" Chris farmer re-entered rollerblading's "limelight" and is now widely considered as one of the most influential rollerbladers in rollerblading history. His more recent sections including "BANG!" (Mindgame; 2003), "Feet" (2005), "The Meantime" (Negrete, 2006), "Accidental Machines" (2006), "Barely Dead" (2006), and "Radius: Issue 2" (2007). While changing his clothing style, Chris Farmer also was at the forefront of bringing "negative" (grinding on the inside of the foot rather than the outside) grinds back into common trick vocabularies, perfecting tricks that were largely never before seen such as true spin negative top mistrials and true spin negative makios. His style and trick vocabulary have left a lasting impression on rollerblading and he will always be regarded as an icon and legend in rollerblading's history.
