The novelization of the movie presents a slightly different story for Saki, as well as featuring her as a main character, fully illustrating her victory at Battle Royale. After killing her teacher, she ran away and stayed with another teacher who participated in anti-government activities. Through his connections, she also joined the Dawn of Sajia, an activist group, where she met Kazama Souji. However, the teacher was later revealed to be a traitor to the group, and was to be killed; Saki made an attempt to rescue him, and was thus cast out of the organization. A sniper and one of the more dangerous members of the Wild Seven. A winner of a game of Battle Royale, he survived the game by hiding in the forest and sniping at his classmates. Due to the mental trauma of having to remain silent for the entire duration of the game, he has difficulty speaking, and has become fairly cold and emotionless.
The novelization of the movie presents some more information on him, as well as illustrating him as being slightly more talkative. It is revealed that, after his victory at Battle Royale, he never returned to his family, but instead lived in the back alleys of Japan, working with several different anti-government groups. Later, as a member of the Dawn of Sajia, he met Saki, and helped her perfect her skills at sniping. When she was cast out of the Dawn of Sajia, he also left with her, accompanying her during her time at both the Dawn of Asia, and, later, in the Wild Seven.
atoshi Imakire
(今給嶺 聡 "Imakire Satoshi"):Age 22:Height: 176 cm:Played by: Toshihiro Wada
The "older brother" of the Wild Seven. He was of the few people in the history of the Battle Royale Act who managed to escape mid-game. As the oldest member of the Wild Seven, he is usually the calmest and most thoughtful. His favorites weapons are handmade grenade launchers.
The novelization shows him as being a fairly cheerful and friendly person, speaking in polite form to most people and often seen whistling a song. His participation in the Dawn of Asia was quite later, after Saki joined, and worked at the junction which connected various activist groups; however, he was not particularly fond of his job there.
Kengo Yonai
(米内 健吾 "Yonai Kengo"):Age: 17:Height: 164 cm:Played by: Miku Kuga
The winner of the Battle Royale held the year before Saki participated. He tends to act frighteningly and crudely towards most people, but is actually more caring than he seems. The movie photobook states that he was often bullied and picked on when he was younger, and was thus not as traumatized by the events of Battle Royale. His favored weapons are bayonets and a knife he started using to defend himself against bullies when he was a student.
The novelization further shows that he speak very roughly, using 'thug language' and is hot-tempered. He is on relatively bad terms with Sakai. However, he is extremely loyal to Shuya, and, though he rarely shows it, would do anything for him. He is also shown teaching hand-to-hand combat to the younger members of the group in his free time.
