Eran Groumi (born
June 5 ,1970 inJerusalem ) is a formerbackstroke andbutterfly swimmer fromIsrael , who competed for his native country at the1992 Summer Olympics inBarcelona, Spain .There he did not advance past the first round of the competition.
At the 1989
Maccabiah Games , Groumi broke the Israeli record in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:04.80.In 1992, he won an international competition in the 200m backstroke, tying his own Israeli record of 57.39, and qualifying him for the 1992 Summer Games.
At the 1997 European Championships in
Seville, Spain , Groumi set the Israeli record in 50m butterfly (25.13), and the 100m butterfly (54.48).In 1999, Groumi competed in the 50m and 100m butterfly events; in 2000, he finished 3rd in both events at the Israeli Winter Swimming Championships.
