Jowood has a poor reputation among Western gaming fans. It has often been accused of forcing developers to release games before they are finished, resulting in releasing buggy games, and providing poor support in patching/fixing these games afterwards.Examples include "Railroad Pioneer", " Rally Trophy", "Gothic" 3 [ [http://www.acegamez.co.uk/reviews_pc/Gothic_3_PC.htm Gothic 3 PC Video Game Review by AceGamez ] ] , and "The Guild" series [ [http://pc.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r26160.htm The Guild 2 Review - PC ] ] [ [http://www.gamerseurope.com/articles/832 Gamers Europe » Error ] ] .
Legal battles
In August 2005, JoWood attempted to dump one of their developers,
Perception Pty , because of a lack of quality on their "Stargate SG-1" product [ [http://au.gamespot.com/pc/action/stargatesg1thealliance/news.html?sid=6130414 Jowood Terminates Development Agreement with Perception - PC News at GameSpot ] ] , however JoWood carried out these actions believing that they owned the IP developed by Perception, which was false [ [http://au.xbox.ign.com/articles/641/641502p1.html IGN: Stargate SG-1 Not Cancelled After All? ] ] . A legal battle ensued, with both companies demanding compensation from the other. Many other developers and business partners have parted ways with JoWooD as well - quite a few times legal quarrels or even court action have ensued.
