The Liverpool Edge Hill by-election, 1979 was a by-election held for the British House of Commons constituency of Liverpool Edge Hill on 29 March 1979. The seat became vacant following the death of the constituency's Member of Parliament (MP) Sir Arthur Irvine.
The result was a gain for the Liberal Party.
