- Chris Burgert
Christopher M. Burgert was a sheriff's deputy in
Bradford County, Pennsylvania . While attempting to serve a bench warrant for the arrest of Dustin Briggs of Wells Township onMarch 31, 2004 , Burgert andMichael VanKuren were shot and killed.On February 7, 2006, Briggs was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree robbery. He was formally sentenced to death on March 15, 2006, almost two full years after the shooting.
