ProjectScotland

ProjectScotland

ProjectScotland is a revolutionary volunteering organisation allowing 16- to 25-year-olds to volunteer on a formal basis with a variety of non-profit organisations. All placements are at least 30 hours per week and last for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months.

Volunteers can choose to claim a £55 subsistence allowance from ProjectScotland or claim Jobseeker's Allowance, and travel expenses are refunded. To date ProjectScotland has placed more than 2500 young people, who have in turn completed over 1.6 million hours worth of volunteering throughout Scotland.

ProjectScotland is modelled on the AmeriCorps organisation and was set up in May 2005 by Julia Ogilvy.
