AccessedMarch 16 ,2006 .] A 6'7"small forward out ofOhio State University , Campbell was selected 20th overall by theDetroit Pistons in the1984 NBA Draft . He was traded to theLos Angeles Lakers in 1987.The Lakers allowed him to be selected in the 1989
expansion draft by theMinnesota Timberwolves for whom he averaged 23.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in their inaugural season. He held the Timberwolves' original all-time scoring record, scoring 4,888 points, before having his record later broken byDoug West . During his tenure in Minnesota, Campbell was able to showcase his talent as the team's primary offensive threat. This was Campbell's biggest opportunity in the league. Campbell struggled for playing time during his stint in Los Angeles as he was forced to play behind hall of famers such as Magic Johnson, Kareem "the dream" Abdul Jabbar and many other stars.After his time with the Timberwolves, Campbell played for the
New York Knicks ,Dallas Mavericks andCleveland Cavaliers before retiring in 1995.In 2006 he became the head boys basketball coach at
Paramus Catholic High School inParamus, New Jersey .After resigning as head coach of Paramus Catholic High School, he became the Director of Athletics, and head coach of the basketball team at
Bay Ridge PreparatorySchool inBrooklyn ,New York , which is the position he currently holds.References
