Jasim Mohammed Jaafar (born 1958) ( _tr. Casim Muhammed Cafer) is the
Iraqi Minister for Youth & Sports in the government ofNouri al-Maliki . He was confirmed by theIraqi National Assembly on2006-05-20 , having previously served as the Minister for Construction and Housing in theIraqi Transitional Government .Jaafar was born in
Tuz Khurmatu ,Salah ad Din Governorate , Iraq. He went to university inSulaymaniyah where he obtained a masters degree in civil engineering. He joined the opposition toSaddam Hussein in 1976 and was sentenced to death in 1981. He went into exile toIraqi Kurdistan and helped found theIslamic Union of Iraqi Turkoman in 1991, becoming its deputy leader.References
