*July - The Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque in Kuala Terengganu is fully constructed. This is the first floating mosque in Malaysia.
*10 July - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad celebrates his 70th birthday.
*August - Proton Satria hatchback is launched.
*3 August - The KTM Komuter Malaysia's first commuter electrify train services begin in operation.
*15 September - 34 people are killed in the plane crash near Tawau Airport in Tawau, Sabah.
*October - Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW 2020) is launched.
*19 October - The new federal administrative centre of Putrajaya is established.
*29 November - Sabah Air Helicopter that brought 11 Petronas Worker crash at Samarang Sea around 10.30am on Wednesday
* 12 December - The STAR Light Rail Transit (LRT) (Light Rail Transit) began operations in Kuala Lumpur. It was the first LRT system in the city.
