Howick Island is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Parkand the Southern most island in the Howick Group National Park and is about 100km South East of Cape Melville, Queensland.
Howick Island was named [http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0008BRGQW Madman's Island] by [http://www.collectingbooksandmagazines.com/idriess.html Ion Idriess] in 1924. In 1927 he published the book of the same name.
