James Bell (November 13, 1805 – May 26, 1857) was a United States Senator from New Hampshire from 1855 until his death in 1857. He was the son of Samuel Bell, the uncle of Samuel Newell Bell and the cousin of Charles Henry Bell.

Born in Francestown, New Hampshire, he graduated from Bowdoin College in 1822, studied law at Litchfield Law School, and was admitted to the bar in 1825. He served as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1846 to 1850 and ran unsuccessfully for Governor of New Hampshire in 1854 and 1855 but was elected in July of the latter year to the United States Senate for the term beginning in 1855. He served from July 30, 1855 until his death in 1857.

Bell died in Laconia, New Hampshire and is interred at the Exeter Cemetery in Exeter, New Hampshire.
