Punjagutta is an important commercial & residential area in the west zone of Hyderabad, India. Punjagutta has grown to a major transit point for traffic going towards Ameerpet, Banjara hills, Somajiguda and Khairtabad; all important areas of the city of Hyderabad. The new twin flyovers across the road junction are helping ease the traffic flow. The Punjagutta police station at the crossroads is a famous landmark.

Commercial area

Many commercial establishments have come up in this area. Big malls such as the Hyderabad Central, Home town and many others are present here. The PVR Cinemas a well known theater is in Hyderabad Central mall. There are many Jewellery shops along the junction towards Somajiguda circle.The famous Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) is also situated in here. Punjagutta being a centre for traffic going towards Ameerpet, Greenlands, Somajiguda, Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills faces heavy traffic-jams especially during the evening hours. The new flyovers have eased the traffic to a certain extent.

Transport

The buses run by APSRTC connect Punjagutta to all parts of the city. There is also a mini-bus service called Setwin service. The closest MMTS Train station are at Begumpet & Necklace Road.
