Treaty of Montevideo

There have been several treaties signed in Montevideo such as:

*Treaty of Montevideo (1828): In a treaty signed on August 27, 1828, after British mediation, Brazil and Argentina recognized the independence of Uruguay.

*Treaty of Montevideo (1960): The 1960 Treaty of Montevideo established the ALALC organization , the Latin American Free Trade Association. It was followed in 1980 by a treaty transforming ALALC into ALADI (Asociación Latinoamericana de Integración).

*1979 Treaty of Montevideo|Treaty of Montevideo (1979): By the [http://www.un.org/Depts/los/LEGISLATIONANDTREATIES/PDFFILES/TREATIES/CHL-ARG1979AM.PDF Act of Motevideo] agreed Chile and Argentina to allow the Papal mediation in the Beagle conflict of Pope, John Paul II, through the good offices of Antonio Cardinal Samoré, his special envoy.
