KLAX-TV is the ABC affiliate in Alexandria, Louisiana. Its transmitter is located near Dry Prong. It operates on UHF channel 31, with a construction permit for a digital signal on Channel 32. Programs consist of first-run ABC shows, sports, local news produced by the Davenport, Iowa-based Independent News Network, and a few first-run syndicated shows.

History

KLAX-TV was launched on March 3,1983 originally as an Independent station. 2 years later, KLAX-TV became the community's ABC affiliate with the first program being Monday Night Football. Prior to that, ABC was seen on a secondary basis via NBC affiliate KALB-TV.

KLAX became the default ABC affiliate for the Monroe area in 1994 after that city's ABC station KARD became a Fox affiliate until 1998 when the current ABC station KAQY sign on the air.

KLAX also became the secondary affiliate of UPN from 1995 until 1998 when KWCE-LP signed on.
