Moise Rahmani is an Italian author of Sephardic extraction who has written numerous books such as Les Juifs du soleil, portraits de Sépharades de Belgique, The Jews of the Congo and Rhodes, Un Pan de Notre Mémoire, a homage to the birthplace of hispaternal grand-mother on the Aegean Island of Rhodes. Among his other books, one can find "L'Exode oublié, Juifs des pays arabes", "Lettre à un frère", "Juifs du Congo, la confiance et l'espoir", "Tu choisras le rire","Juifs en terre d'islam, une minorité opprimée"...
Biography
Rahmani was born in Cairo, Egypt into a Jewish family. His paternal grand-mother was a Greek Jew from Rhodes. The former diamond dealer speaks several languages including Ladino. Two decades ago he launched the quarterly review Los Muestros (www.sefarad.org) which publishes news of the Sephardic community around the world. Rahmani has researched and written numerous publications on the Jewish communities of Belgian Congo, many who like his family, left their ancestral homes from the Greek island of (then Ottoman Turkey) Rhodes for the former Belgian colony of Congo during the Balkan Wars of the early 20th century.[1]
