platforms = 2Shaw Boulevard MRT Station, also called Shaw for short, is a station on the Manila MRT Blue Line (MRT-3). Shaw Boulevard station is one of the many elevated stations that can be found on the line. The station is located in the
Mandaluyong City portion ofOrtigas Center and is named after Shaw Boulevard, since the station lies directly above the boulevard.Shaw Boulevard station lies at the center of the MRT, as it is the seventh station for trains headed to North Avenue and the seventh station for trains headed to Taft Avenue.
The station is near three prominent shopping centers:
Shangri-La Plaza ,EDSA Central andStarmall (all of the aforementioned malls are connected by elevated pedestrian walkways), as well as several marketplaces and apartments. Commuters can also walk or take alternate forms of transportation to the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel and toSM Megamall .Transportation links
Shaw Boulevard station is a major transfer point for commuters taking other forms of transportation such as buses, taxis and jeepneys. Three major
jeepney and Mega-Taxi (air-conditioned jeepneys) terminals are located either directly below or close to theMRT station.Jeepney Plaza (jeepneys and Mega-Taxis bound for this terminal have signs as Crossing/United), located at EDSA Central Avenue, two blocks from MRT station, is the main jeepney terminal of the area. It has aGoldilock's store, close toMercury Drug outlet, several restaurants, banks, and shops nearby; also a part ofEDSA Central Complex, and is close toShaw Boulevard . Jeepneys from this terminal serve WesternMandaluyong City (Mega-Taxi);Pasig City , includingOrtigas Center (jeepney and Mega-Taxi);Pateros (jeepney and Mega-Taxi); andRizal Province (Angono ,Antipolo City ,Baras ,Binangonan ,Cainta ,Cardona ,Morong ,Pililia , Tanay,Taytay , and Teresa) (jeepney and Mega-Taxi).Parklea Center (jeepneys bound for this terminal have signs as Crossing/Parklea), located directly below the MRT station across from Starmall. It is an indoor market with several restaurants, shops, and pawnshops. It is the terminal station forLibertad (Mandaluyong City) toKalentong (Jose Rizal University ) jeepneys, and provides jeepney service for Pasig City, Pateros, and select Rizal Province towns.Starmall (jeepneys and Mega-Taxis bound for this terminal have signs as Crossing/Starmall), located directly to the west of the MRT station (EDSA and Shaw Boulevard). The terminal is at theStarmall Shopping Center , a major shopping mall with restaurants, shops, banks, and other services. Jeepneys from this terminal serve Western Mandaluyong City (jeepney and Mega-Taxi); Ortigas Center (Mega-Taxi); Pasig City (jeepney); and select Rizal Province towns (jeepney).For passengers wanting to ride jeepneys heading to the
City of Manila , especially forSanta Mesa and Quiapo, they may board at Starmall (Shaw Boulevard side) as jeepneys stop at the area.Buses that run along
EDSA may be boarded below the station. For buses heading toQuezon City and points north, passengers may board at either EDSA Central Mall or walk towardsShangri-La Mall orSM Megamall . For buses heading toMakati and points south, passengers may board at either Starmall (near the jeepney terminal) or EDSA and Sultan Street (south of Parklea Center).EMBC Buses that run along Shaw Boulevard may be boarded at least 2 blocks away from the station. For passengers heading to Rizal Province (Antipolo City, Teresa, Morong, and Tanay), they may board the bus at Shaw Boulevard and Sheridan Street (near
Greenwich , acrossLourdes School ). For passengers heading to the City of Manila (Divisoria and Quiapo), they may board at the west end of the Shaw Boulevard fly-over, around 300 meters away from Starmall.Passengers may board taxis at various locations near the station. The closest taxi stands include Starmall, EDSA Central Mall (at Santo Cristo Street), and Shangri-La Plaza (at the entrance opposite Shaw Boulevard).
