"Tell Him" is the name of a song written by Bert Berns. It became a hit in 1962 when it was released by The Exciters, rocketing up the Billboard Hot 100, and eventually peaking at #4 in 1963.
In the United States, Dean Parrish and Kenny Loggins both charted with cover versions of the song, both retitled "Tell Her." Parrish's record hit #97 on the Billboard chart in 1966 and Loggins' peaked at #76 in 1989.
In the UK, cover versions were released by Billie Davis and Alma Cogan in 1963, Hello in 1974 and Quentin and Ash in 1996.
Billie Davis and Hello's versions both became top 10 hits in the UK singles chart.
The song was also covered in 1982 by girl group retro/new wave artist Josie Cotton on her album "Convertible Music".
This was also performed by Vonda Shepard in 1998 and released on the "Ally McBeal" soundtrack. It has also been performed on American Idol by a contestant, Haley Scarnato.
The cast of the 90s TV show "Living Single", also performed this song as a parody.
