Cadet College was established in 2001. It is first Institution of its kind in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. Northern Areas of Pakistan have a history to be proud of. Time and again people of these areas have stood against aggression and have proved themselves to be fiercely patriotic Pakistanis. Cadet College Skardu is a small token of recognition of their services and sacrifices for the motherland. This college has been funded by the Federal Government and is being administered by the Ministry of Kashmir and Northern Areas Affairs.

Northern Areas of Pakistan have unmatched grandeur and beauty that attracts the admirer and adventurers from all over the world. The peaks, the rivers and the glaciers that dominate these areas lend a unique beauty and character to them. These areas are rugged but beautiful and people who inhabit them are rustic and poor but intelligent, enterprising and hospitable. The learning environment plays a major role in shaping the personality of a child and studying in Northern Areas is going to be a unique experience for any Youngman.

=Location:=

The beautiful campus of Cadet College Skardu is located in the center of Skardu valley next to the Airport. Skardu is linked to Islamabad International Airport by daily Boeing flight. It takes forty minutes to fly from Islamabad to Skardu. The college is located at a height of approximately 7000 feet above sea level.

= Building:=

The foundation stone of the College was laid in 1994. Phase-I of the College has been completed at a cost of Rs.150 million. The building boasts of modern architecture yet displaying the character of the area. It has been constructed to ensure comfort of the students during winters. The College Campus, which includes hostels, accommodations for staff, academic block and planned civic facilities is spread over an area exceeding 600 kanals(75 acres).

=Academics=The primary objective of the Cadet College Skardu is to groom and educate young students with a view to build upon their potentials the personalities that are intellectually and morally sound and socially amiable and well adjusted, enabling these young men to play the role of leaders in the mainstream national activities of their choice.

Upto Secondary Level, the College will provide uniform science education medium of instructions being English. At Higher Secondary Level the students will be offered following combinations in additions to compulsory subjects:

a) Pre-Engineering: Physics, Math and Chemistry.

b) Pre-Medical: Physics, Biology and Chemistry.

c) Computer Science: Physics, Statistics and Computer Sciences (Subject to final approvalby the Board of Governors)

=Achievements=Since its start in 2001, Cadet College Skardu has achieved many milestones. When the pioneer batch appeared in SSC-I exam held under FBISE, the college got the highest CGPA among all instituitions. Since then, it has maintained its position at the top.Although no individual student has ever topped the FBISE, the collective GPA has been highest every year, at both SSC and HSSC levels.Some of the achievements are listed below.

Co-Curricular activities

All Pakistan Urdu Debate held at Cadet College Razmak in the year 2002. Positions : Inidividual 1st & team 1stAll Pakistan Bilingual Declamation held at Army Burn Hall College in the year2004-Special Prize.All Baltistan Naat.Competition held in March 2004-3rd positionAll Baltistan English/Urdu Debate Competition in the year 2005 held at Khaplu Indivial & team Position 1st.All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest held in Army Burn Hall College on 2nd September, 2005 -Position 5th .

Curricular

Two Cadets Cadet Zahid Hussain 2nd batch and Cadet Muhammad Ali of Pioneer batch qualified National Mathematical Olympiad. They are joining International Mathematical Olympiad.

One Cadet of the Pioneer Batch, Murtaza Hussain, got merit Scholarships from Federal Board, after SSC exams in 2004.

Five Cadets got merit Scholarships from Federal Board, 1st Year Total Scholership 80.
