- Mamta (Hindi film)
-
The word Mamta has a meaning approximating to "Motherly feeling" in most Indian languages. It is the name of as many as five Hindi-language films.
The earliest Hindi film to bear this name was a 1936 black-and-white film directed by Franz Osten and starring Devika Rani. This was followed by films in 1942, 1952 and 1965, none of which made much impact. The fifth and latest production to bear this name was the 1966 film starring Suchitra Sen which proved a phenomenal hit.
