- ZBOR
Jugoslovenski narodni pokret "Zbor" ("Yugoslav National Movement "Zbor", commonly known as "ZBOR") was the name of the movement formed in
1935 byDimitrije Ljotić through the merger of a number ofright-wing nationalist parties.ZBOR copied comparable movements in
Italy andGermany at that time, and it was created as a reaction to theGreat Depression which had greatly affected theKingdom of Yugoslavia . The party was not successful at the ballot box. As their counterparts in the West, ZBOR organised their ownparamilitary wing, known under the name "Ljotićevci". The main targets of the ZBOR were communists (the Communist Party of Yugoslavia).ZBOR party tried to create an alliance with the
Nazi Germany before the start ofWorld War II . It had received funding from the state from at least1937 and onwards.Cohen, Philip J. "Serbia's secret war: propaganda and the deceit of history", Texas A&M University Press, 1996] It was eventually banned in Yugoslavia during the Cvetković government in 1940. This ban was short-lived. After the defeat of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in1941 , the party placed itself in complete service to the German occupation forces, and soon created its own military armSerbian Volunteer Corps ("Srpski dobrovoljački korpus"), which was the kernel of theSerbia n military force inNedić's Serbia .References
