Janez Lapajne [yannez la-pie-nay] , Slovenian film director, * June 24 1967, Celje, Slovenia.

Leading Slovenian contemporary independent filmmaker. Film directing graduate of the University of Ljubljana and former president of Directors Guild of Slovenia. Lapajne insists upon collaborating with his actors for an intensive rehearsal periods before shooting and he does not use storyboards to make his films. He focuses closely on human emotions, and on the rhythm and harmony of the film as a whole. Founded PoEtika, an occasional academy for researching the art of film directing, which he heads as mentor. He also directs for theatre, radio and television and has won several awards for his student works and his both feature films. Son of geophysicist and seismologist Janez K. Lapajne.
