1947 , anti-Muslim riots broke out in Bihar, as a result of which many Muslims were targeted and killed. Muslim property was looted. Many Bihari Muslims escaped to bothPakistan andBangladesh . The majority (approx 3 million) went toPakistan and settled down in the Province ofSindh , especially inKarachi . Those that went toBangladesh lived inDhaka where they remain till now.Culture
Bihari Muslims have developed a distinct cuisine, different from the
Mughal Cuisine of the rest ofNorth Indian Muslims . The cuisine of Bihari Muslims is morePashtun -oriented andArab -oriented.Lamb is a widely consumed meat, as ischicken . Some dishes are - Meat Curry, Litti-Chokha, etc.References
