Ramdew Chaitoe was a Surinamese artist and a harmonium player, who released a Chutney/Baithak Gana album called, "The King Of Suriname a.k.a The Star Melodies Of Ramdew Chaitoe" in 1957.

Born on December 19, 1942, Ramdew, like many children at the time, grew up on a farm. His father, songwriter/lyricist & harmonium instrumentalist Pandit Shastrie Sewpersad Chaitoe, was a considerable influence on Ramdew, inaugurating his son early in the musical artform, by having his son perform at weekly Hindu temple ceremonies inevitably allowing him to perform among the top singers and composers in Suriname as he matured. During numerous music festivals in the Caribbean, Ramdew Chaitoe gained vast performance experience, elevating his music skills & reputation. When he first began to sing, he was in jail/prison at that time.

It is have succeeded Ramdew Chaitoe for by its success an example for a lot of young and old music composers, singers and songwriters. His favourite drummer was a boy by the name of Vijay Nandkumar, that is now currently living in Canada. Vijay nandkumar has taught leon seodarshan many things when it comes to drumming, but he couldn't come close to the wonderful sound that comes out of Vijay Nandkumar's hands. This is why Vijay Nandkumar was always chosen to perform with ramdew chaitoe.

This album is accredited to be the first Chutney/Baithak Gana album ever in Suriname.
