William Horlick High School (also known as "Horlick" or "Racine Horlick" High School) is a public, four-year high school in Racine, Wisconsin with an enrollment of approximately 2,200 students. Its school colors are scarlet and gray. It is a comprehensive public school for grades 9 to 12. It has a long-standing crosstown rivalry with Washington Park High School.

History

William Horlick High School was built in 1928 (Additions in 1961) in Racine, Wisconsin, named after William Horlick, patent holder for the first malted milk drink mixing powder, who moved his manufacturing facility to the city in 1875.

The school itself has had consistent problems with the building structure and overcrowding, throughout the years.

Mission

"To educate students to be responsible, productive and ethical citizens with the skills to think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively and learn continuously. We will accomplish this in an environment characterized by a progressive and positive attitude, implemented by an exceptional staff in partnership with students, parents and the community."

Mascot

The school's official mascot is Polaris, the North Star. However, Horlick is probably better known by their unofficial mascot, the Rebel Yeller. The change is rumored to have occurred in the mid-1900s when the boy's basketball coach Russ Rebholz, piloted the Horlick team to a winning season. At that point, the team became known as "Reb's Rebels." Since then, in 2008 the Rebel has been stripped of his sword. He has ben renamed Rebie.

We're scarlet and gray!

Whatever the first crowd says, ie: "Hey Freshman!", everyone else repeats. Same goes for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. The goal is to be the loudest crowd.
