Austad

Austad is a former municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway.

History

It was created by a split from Lyngdal on January 1, 1909, which also created the new municipality Kvås. At that time Austad had a population of 1,263. On 1 January 1964 Austad and Kvås were re-incorporated into Lyngdal. Before the merger Austad had a population of 608. The village Austad is located in the southern part of Lyngdal, between Lyngdal town and Korshamn.
